think

Here's another new track. Think. I used my Boss Dr. Rhythm drum machine for the beats (because it's quick and easy), an envelope filtered and overdriven bass using my BTB 5'er through the BP200 and distorted guitar running through the Ibanez PD7 Phat-Hed bass overdrive pedal. There was no extra editing or special effects used for this track.

deathcat

I just finished another track and titled it, "Deathcat". Take a listen and let me know what ya think. I recommend using high-end speakers or headphones because the bass is pretty sick (and shit like my laptop speakers just can't handle it).

For this track, I made a pattern using my drum machine. Then in GarageBand2 I added a phaser effect for them. I've never done that in any previous tracks and I dig the spaced-out effect it produces. I'm a spaced out guy. Anyway, then I wrote the chord progression on the electric guitar and utilized an envelope filter (which also makes things sound pretty spacey and wha-like). I actually ran my guitar through my bass processor (the Digitech BP200). My tones are much fuller and warmer through this unit versus any amps or other effects units I own. After this I took off the envelope effect and used the same unit to have a more standard distorted guitar sound and played a strummed chord every few measures. I added deep bass from my 5-string, focusing one note on the first two beats of each measure, coupled with another note on the 3rd and 4th beats. Finally, I added this software effect called "Casuarina Cascade" to follow the strummed chord. All in all, I love the track and common applications would be: good background music in about any situation, good headphones-while-in-bed music and good music for a pounding car system. If I could change anything about this track, I'd add a melody or some sort of solo guitar work. Maybe I'll revisit it again to do so, maybe I won't.

I'm already working on another new track in which I play a conventional/acoustic drum set. This upcoming jam will be very cool and will feature melody on top of a rhythm. Hit me up with love or hate - I'm out.
