forgetting

Over the weekend, I created another instrumental track called Forgetting. I may have cut the beginning of playback a little short at the start of the track so I'll tweak it tonight - if you have a slow processor, it may cut off a second at the start, FYI.

It's nice to be in the groove lately. Life is good, always. Sometimes I just don't see it, but I guess lately, I have. I've got more musical ideas than I have time to do anything with them. What I need to do is sit down and orchestrate a bunch of songs/jams together to have a whole set prepared for my May 28th gig. So now I'm all about that.

More details about the May 28th musicfest to follow soon...

trackking

It's been about a trillion years, but I finally finished another instrumental track! Everything's been so crazy over the last month or so. And what's funny is that this track, from conception to the finalized recording, took me a few hours over the course of the past three days. It's just amazing how productive I can be when I stay a little centered and inspired. Well, whatever. It totally fucking rocks and I'm very pleased with the finished version. Check it out!

musicfest

My friend Jon is currently planning a local concert that will have 4-6 live bands (depending upon circumstances like time allotted, space of venue, etc.) and will occur in about six weeks from now. The show will be all ages so anyone and everyone can go! The main styles will mainly consist of punk to metal. I've been invited to perform a set so I'm very excited about the whole gig. Of course, I'm also very interested in seeing his, and other, bands play that day too. As soon as I know the exact date, time and place, I'll definitely make another post on here. In the meantime, and in preparation for this event, I've been gluing together the many ideas I've been working on for a long time. My original material, technique and clarity is super-tight, but now I've got to do the arrangement of parts to create structured songs. I will definitely be ready and I'm obviously stoked!

procrastinator

I am very good at procrastinating menial tasks, such as, updating my web site so the format and layout is all the same. Well, it's done. Now I can finish up Shapeless' audio tracks, upload them to the server and post a page for them. Then it's off to the races with my music. It's a good thing my life doesn't depend on money from this stuff or I'd be dead-broke, although, I tend to think I'd be able to keep up with everything if I was actually making some REAL money off of my site & music. Whatever. I'm always in the market to make money, but both my personal and musical satisfaction doesn't depend on it at all.

april

Well, I don't know how the hell it came so fast, but April's here. Today seems like the first official day of Spring - it's actually VERY nice in NJ today.

I've got some sound files to edit for friends, but not much new going on within the business side of things lately. I'm actually glad because I've taken a long time to align my resources to be 100% independent musically and now I actually have the chance of making shit happen. I'd like to start my own design, finance, management, record label, oh you name it business, but I need time for myself for a while. I've been making some decisions in my personal life and I'm convinced that I need to spend the most time and energy on me. I owe it to myself and it'll pay off. So there's no schedule but my own for the foreseeable future and I'm sure I'll be posting some new material somewhat soon. Additionally, this will all be preparation for doing some live shows, which is the bottom-line goal for my music.

Yeah - what a ramble, whatev's....

Oh yeah, went to the Praxis show in Chicago and it was good. The set was too short, but hell, it was the sixth time seeing Bucket this year so I've certainly had my fill. Finally, they had the new Secret Recipe DVD for sale at the show for $25 and I hooked up with it. Let me just say, it's absofuckinlutely awesome! And it's only available while Buckethead's on tour right now (some bullshit with distribution arrangement or whatever). But I'm happy and Chicago's a beautiful city; I had a great time altogether.
